You are my last hope. This is the best board i could think of to post these questions. I am looking to get into gunsmithing and i want to start with a .22 remmington. I have machining experience but i want to know how much of a tolerence a .22 barrel has and if there is a cheaper way to get ahold of a reamer or cheaper way to ream the barrel. I have the rest figured out.

Do you mean:
.22 Remington special,
.22 Remington jet,
.221 Remington Fireball,
.222 Remington,
.222 Remington Magnum,
.223 Remington, or
.22-250 Remington?

Just .223 remmington
>> No. 18010
Here's the SAAMI specs on cartridge and chamber dimensions. http://www.saami.org/PubResources/CC_Drawings/Rifle/223%20Remington.pdf

Instead of buying reamers, it would be easier to just rent one if you're only cutting one or two chambers.
