Whats a weapon that guarantees me vicory against a physically superior opponent and preferably costs between 100-200 USD, and doesnt require a special permit/license? It could be lethal, potentially-lethal or non-lethal.

license?
>> No. 17483
Licenses depend on where you live. I walked into a gun shop and walked out an hour later with my Mossberg 500. No license required.

On the other hand, your question is pretty stupidly phrased, as no weapon in the world can ever guarantee a victory. It would come to a combination of the overall effectiveness of the weapon and your willingness to use it. If this is all completely hypothetical, then you need to be more specific about the situation you will be using it in as there is no one-size-fits-all weapon.

Probably so OP can't do whatever he's planning.
I'm also going to second pepper spray.
>> No. 17488
The vast majority of weapons you'll see in any state, do not require a "license". A permit to conceal carry is different than a license to own a firearm. What state are you in, OP?

Also, for 100-200 bucks, just get a knife or something. Do not listen to >>17476, unless he was being sarcastic. Don't listen to him, anyway.

Pepper spray is stupid. All it does is give you a head start at an escape. Assuming the assailant doesn't just willpower through it.

i spray inmates with LE10. You sound like every hard ass inmate i've sprayed. That shit works.

Have you ever been peppered sprayed? Didn't think so. There is no willing through it. That shit you see in movies is just that, shit. You spray someone in the face, he won't be able to see or breathe.

I second pepper spray. Legally speaking the worse that can happen if things were to come to court is assault or some variation of it (depending on where you live). If you were to pull a knife or a gun than you can be in a shit ton of trouble. As a bonus it is legal for everyone to buy, can be found almost anywhere, relatively cheap depending on what you get, and it gives you the ability to use it at more than an arm's distance. Plus you can get the cute colored shit to make him easier to identify later.

Just remember to cover your own face when you use it, try not to be downwind, and make a "T" across the eyes and over the nose and mouth.

I have taken pepper spray to the face. Part of the training in Lackland for Navy Master-at-Arms, and Air Force Security Forces is to get sprayed in the face with the same shit you'll be carrying, and then take down the guy that sprayed you. I'm not saying that stuff doesn't hurt, because it does. But someone that wants something from you bad enough, or is on drugs, will still be able to come at you.

thanks for giving us half the facts the first time, you sounded like a punk and i looked like an ass.
They do the same thing for correctional officers, some inmates build up a tolernce to it. most don't, and civilians don't.
>> No. 17507
>>17504

I wasn't sprayed enough to build a tolerance. I was simply saying I've been sprayed before, and it's not completely debilitating, so long as you aren't a pussy. If some guy is trying to mug you for your wallet, chances are he isn't a pussy.

It has nothing to do with "how tough you are". I've heard the exact same bull shit about people talking about how they can tough out tasers. Sorry to shit on your masculinity parade, but it ain't going to happen. I've never been directly peppered sprayed before, but I've caught some indirectly once when the wind shifted on me. Even just that small amount was enough to choke me up and make it a pain in the ass to see. Getting a full dose to the eyes, nose, and mouth will be more than enough to stop anyone who isn't doped up on som hardcore drugs.
>> No. 17510
>a pain in the ass to see

No one is disagreeing with this. But cops, prison guards, certain military people etc, have to get hit in the face with this stuff, and perform different tasks for training. It isn't improbable, or even unlikely that someone you spray in the face with pepper spray will still come after you.

Typically when a cop or other law enforcement official gets hit with pepper spray they seek medical attention as soon as possible to get the shit washed out of their eyes. They just don't man p and go about the rest of their days like nothing happened.

And besides, if you are just interested in self defense than 99.99% of the people who are out there to get you will be stopped by pepper spray. If that .01% is a worry for you, than upgrade to a more powerful pepper spray or other type of O.C. spray. Hell, you can buy bear mace online for less than $50. And they even make that shit in smaller pepper spray containers.

Here's part of my states Use of Force Plan

section 3 implementation of force, Sub section 7 use of chemical agents, paragraph d. decontamination procedures, part 1 exposure to OC (Oleoresin Capsicum),

(a) Decontamaination of individual,
i. move the affected individual to uncontaminated air, if necessary;
ii. individual should remove contact lenses and contaminated clothing
iii. If contaminated portion of the body is primarily limited to the facial area and there is no ongoing exposure in the cell from residual agent, the offender may flush in cell by cupping water and splashing it on the face. Otherwise, or if the symptoms persist after facial flushing, the offender may be offered a shower (if the offender has an incell shower, advise the offender to shower); and
iv. do not apply salves, creams, oils or lotions which can trap the irritant.

That is the proper way to decontaminate from OC.

If you're getting raped by a squad of Navy SEALs, then yeah, maybe pepper spray will be slightly less effective. However, your average street thug will be rolling around on the ground crying.
>> No. 17518
Nothing. A well trained opponent could take just about any weapon out of your hand and use it to turn you into a crying little bitch. There is no "guarantee" of victory.

But usually, regardless of weapons, the better trained, more experienced individual, even if drastically out-gunned by another individual, will win. Why? because they have more training with what they have, even if it's a butter knife, than you do, even if it's..oh. a m16. The likelihood of you coming out ahead is slim.

I don't think anyone has addressed the issue of the spray itself, and how this affects stopping power. Most people aren't going to want to carry the big ol' 6" bear mace cans in their back pocket all the time. In fact, most people buy the little keychain, or belt holster sized stuff. Those cans have a range of about 3-6 feet, but the spray starts to spread at around 2 feet. Meaning that doing the "T" on the face is more difficult. Also, the spray isn't going to stop anyone in their tracks. Sure, it's better than an untrained persons fists, but I think you guys give pepper spray too much credit. I've seen 17 year old girls take this shit, and perform drills just fine. It isn't debilitating, unless you're allergic to it. Cops, MPs, etc are taught to use spray as a way of making some one more manageable. No one in a law enforcement/security profession will tell you to rely on this stuff as primary means of self defense. Like I said before, at most it gives you a head start at an escape.

Ok, are we talking about taking out someone who jumps out from behind a dumpster and yells "boo!" or are we talking about going toe to toe with a grizzly bear in a fight to death match? This thread seems to have strayed from OP's original question.
If you just want something in case someone Jumps out at you in a dark alley then pepper spray will work just fine. Even if the guy is some sort of tough shit macho type, it will be enough to give you the opening needed to escape.
If you are trying to arm yourself for some sort of planned encounter then you're looking at a different story. There is the legality of bring weapons to a fight (automatically bumps you up in penalties and premeditation) which could be a problem and you are now changing your goals from temporarily disabling and escaping to temporarily or permanently disabling and following through with more attacks. If this is the case than I wouldn't suggest pepper spray because any sort of follow up actions is going to get the shit on you and now you're in the same boat as the other guy. And if it's a fist fight he and all of his buddies (because no one shows up to a fight alone) are going to be really pissed off that you pulled some punk ass shit like that.

OP really needs to come back on here and give this thread more direction on what he was looking for.

Maybe in your state, but mine has no quarrels with a woman who shoots an unarmed rapist.
>> No. 17579

Try actually reading the entire post. It says that bringing a weapon TO A PLANNED ENCOUNTER bumps up the charges with premeditation.

If you are going to go to a fight, knowing that there is going to be a fight, and you bring a weapon and use it then you'll be adding additional charges. If you get into a fight and just happen to have a weapon and use it then the prosecutor will have to prove that there was the premeditation to use the weapon before there was a fight.

So you guys who have endured Spray and continued acting... by any chance has anyone here been Tased?

Looks crippling enough but it's another thing I've wondered if one could willpower/drug through
>> No. 17604
>>17603

Nope. A taser overrides the central nervous system and causes all your muscles to seize up and forces you to drop like a brick. You could be an Olympic body builder on PCP and it'll still drop you.

Now some people are able to recover faster than others which could be a problem (though an easy solution would be another zap).

on a serious note disregarding the fact that i hate you OP, a kabar, buck 119, are both good fix-blade knives for around $50, and there's others out there. for other people looking at this post wanting advice.

now for my answer to the OP, go to a porn store, buy a big heavy pink sparkly dildo, and carry it everyday, if attacked, whip it out, if he doesn't laugh and leave, try to slap him with it, then you'll probably be savagely ass blasted with that very dildo before your most likely murdered, which is exactly what a pussy idiot like you needs.
>> No. 17660
>>17604

This is actually true, as opposed to how some have said that pepper spray is debilitating. But the tazed person isn't going to stay tazed forever. Most of the tazer guns cops have only last for 5 seconds a hit. It's enough to get the upper hand on the assailant, or run away.
>> No. 17773
>>17604
There was a post on one of the boards before, news video or something. People can build a resistance to tazers just like they can to pepper spray. Police officer pulled a guy over or something and the guy attacked him, police officer tazed him like three times and it had no effect, officer ended up having to run away and call for back up. The got the guy later. Many non-lethal self-defense things have the problem of people building up resistances to them or the person's physiology just not being effected. Although admittedly rare you may run into someone who is unaffected by almost any non-lethal countermeasure.
