Fucking website shit. Ok. Let's redesign 99chan. Give ideas and shit and I'll do my best to make it look how you think it should look. It'd also be VERY helpful if you'd get on IRC, if you can't figure out IRC you probably aren't good at websiting.

Can we have a board where we can get free car insurance quotes?

How about a "Post Spy" feature (automatic appendance of new posts to a thread without having to refresh the page)? It's the one thing I really miss from 7chan. Not only was that badass on general principle, it seems a perfect fit us here, taking the futility out of refreshing a page in this low traffic environment.

I think it's high time we implement our own variation of 4chanX.

I think anything to help drive traffic to the smaller boards is a good thing. For example, I don't think /b/ needs to show up in the "latest images" thing. Another idea I just came up with would be a place with the 5 boards whose most recent post are the oldest.

"Latest images" is a flawed concept. Images catch the eye, but they hardly inspire one to contribute to the conversation. That list was best when it was "recent posts" and displayed the actual text of recent activity. That said, a textual "recent posts" list should be brought back and should include the most recent posts from each board, not just the 5 most recent posts from /b/ (as the case usually ends up being), since that would expose people to more variety of conversation.

Lets say, first of all, the boards were categorized more logically - maybe something like:

Normal
- /b/, /fubot/, /raeg/, /regs/, /tttm/
Lifestyle
- /cf/, /docta/, /fitfa/, /money/
Learn
- /calc/, /nerd/, /phi/, /speak/, /x/
The Arts
- /art/, /fronk/, /mu/, /wri/
Convention Center
- /a/, /cat/, /cccp/, /gent/, /lego/, /reich/, /sfcsp/, /tvav/
Porn
- porn shit

Then, lets say these category listings (currently "Discussions n' stuff", "99chan Meta", and "Adult Entertainment") become links themselves to pages that're part "Latest Posts" for the boards that fall under a given category, and part "General Discussion" for stuff that falls under a given category but doesn't necessarily have a dedicated board.
Categories like "Normal" or "Porn" of my proposed list would have no discussion functionality, but would serve as a more comprehensive "Latest Posts" list, providing not just the literal most recent posts but also the OPs of the threads from which they originate.

I tried to tell this to a previous regime, but they were all "we need to figure out which boards should exist before we attempt to categorize them", missing the point that having a place for general category discussion provides a better platform from which to expand and contract the board lineup.

Quote backlinks would be awesome. Preferably with the hover preview thing. It makes it so much easier to follow conversations in threads when you can just hover over quote backlinks and read all the replies to a particular post without having to scroll through the thread in question to find them.

See pic for an example.
