My name is Stephen Lynx and I have been working on a new chan engine for a few months now. I noticed a while ago how the current technology available for chan owners ranges from bad to unsatisfactory. The issues varies between bad performance, outdated codebases, outdated technologies, incomplete features, lacking documentation and so on.

So I decided to write an engine that would fit both chans that allow and disallow user-owned boards, that would run well for both small and large chans, that would be easy to configure, deploy and interact with.

And so was born LynxChan, an engine that is all I wish to use as a chan user and I aim to make it also everything a chan owner wishes to have as a tool to his site. The 99chan staff has demonstrated strong interest in adopting it too, so here I am.

I run a demo instance at lynxhub.com with all of its features enabled and I can be reached on IRC, #lynxchan @ irc.rizon.net

When you say the engine is thirty times faster than PHP, is that a native feature of node.js? How did you do it?

What benefits are there to Mongodb, other than node compatibility?

I applaud the effort to implement server side javascript, as I browse with scripts disabled.
