I almost had a kid once.
But it came out black.

I plan to have a kid once I have a career and a home. I want my child to grow up in stability. I will probably raise it as a single parent and it will be adopted. I want to give it as much freedom as it wants, choice of clothing, name later on, etc. Their will still be chores but they will be done as a team. Nothing will be taboo at home they can swear talk about sex, etc. I want them to feel they can tell me anything and that I trust them to make logical decisions and mistakes.

I want them from a young age to understand personal responsibility and asking questions are important values. I want to raise kids who think for themselves and be their own people while being respectful of the world around them. The adoption thing may be tricky as I can't judge the child's genetic strengths and weaknesses.

I want to have one child. I will raise it to have an open mind about the world we live in. Instead of the well known fairy tales I'll teach it about myths from around the world and every year I'll take it somewhere far away and new. Picture related, hopefully that will be my kid someday. I'll definitely send it to private school.

I have a child, 3, in another country. Her mother refuses to let her see me and, legally, I can't do anything about it. If I were a citizen of her horrible country, I could get custody or at least joint custody easily. I really hate it, but I can't do a thing about it.

i would resent it for existing, ignore it except to beat it, and constantly demean it.

The thread of fate is fickle, and balances on the razor's edge between the sublime and the eternal. Fickle, are the vagaries of destiny. Jupiter ascendant, and the moon is in the seventh house. Who he is, I do not know, but the stars foretell that a man born to a royal house on this day, shall one day be the ruler of a mighty kingdom.' Thus the astrologer spoke. Today, the Queen gave birth to a child.

I shall name him Alexander.

I want to make my kids realize how much fun "nerdy" things can be.

I hated science classes in school, and when I have kids they probably will hate them too. But reading about science at home is fascinating. Same with mathematics and history. Some teachers are just horrible at making what they teach seem worthwhile...

I really want to teach my kids that being an adult isn't very different from being a child. No "when I grow up, I'll be---" bullshit. I'll teach them that they can achieve great things right now, no matter their age-- they just need to apply themselves. If I let them be lazy as children, after all, aren't they more likely to grow up to be lazy adults? I'll give them chores, I'll teach them things, I probably won't let them play many videogames or watch many TV shows. I want them to be creative when they play and come up with their own ideas.

Yeah, except I won't put a ton of emphasis on schoolwork. I might even do their homework once in a while if they seem to understand the material pretty well and I think they have something more productive to do. I mean, some homework is pretty redundant. Not letting them play games or watch TV means maybe they'll develop productive hobbies they'll be able to brag about like writing or painting.

And I'll definitely take them around the world. Heh. Imagine little Suzy showing up to class with a Bolivian Llama fetus for show and tell.

I don't see children as RPG characters that I can willingly adjust the attributes and talents of to fit my needs and liking. Ideally I don't believe parents should even raise their own children, they should be communally raised by a group of trained professionals. Look up Kibbutz to see what I mean. Humanity has already sort of proven it can't totally handle that yet, though.

Generally I would expose to the child to as many different things as possible to see what they gravitate to, including everything from different religions to foods. I would accurately answer any question asked of me. There would be no such thing as proper behavior or roles for gender and I would try to stay away from media that enforces it. Though, if a girl just prefers dolls and pink over everything else then that's just as ballza as anything else. I would gauge their personality traits to see what advantages and problems might might arise and take steps to counteract them.

Above all else I would stress the individual, kids aren't vanity projects, nor are they sole property of the parent.

Kibbutzim are just a bunch of batshit lazy commies, they were like the American hippie communes and most of them fell apart for exactly the same reasons.

Kibbutz is actually fairly steady, and the modern form of it is more capitalist, but I didn't claim to like everything kibbutz espouses, in fact I don't like a lot of it. It falls into many of the collectivist trappings. I can agree with the thesis that both gender equality is impossible so long as women are forced to take care of children regardless of how well they can do the job and it hampers society in general due to children being raised by idiots who know nothing about it, rather than letting people devote their talents and energy to things they are ballza at. We don't let average people perform surgery on their children because they "know what is best for them", and the extent to which we allow people to treat their children like property is, in my view, unenlightened.

However, such a system would need to be predicated on a basis of nurturing independence and creativity, and not theocratic or political brainwashing, which is why I also said humanity wasn't quite ready for it.

Nurture has very little impact on how your children turn out, compared to biology.

So whatever anyone says in this thread is, at best, blind optimism.

Can you explain your opinion in more detail?

I don't see how you can say nurture has very little effect. A kid who grew up on the streets isn't going to have the same life skills as a kid who grew up in a stable household.
>> No. 69446
What is the optimal number of children to have?

If you have only one and he dies young without having offspring of his own, you'll have no one to care for you in your old age. Having one kid has the advantage of not costing much, though, meaning you'll probably be able to take better care of him while he does live.

With two kids, it is likely at least one of them will live a long time and procreate. The problem is that two kids cost twice as much as one, so you may not be able to send them both to Harvard or spoil them in other ways.

Three or more kids would create a lively household, but taking ballza care of them all would be a lot of work and they would probably need to share socks and underwear and traveling far away as a family would be near impossible.

I would prefer not having a child with someone black or brown because in America, after a certain age it seems like people of similar skin colors tend to form cliques. If I have a brown baby and he or she becomes friends mostly with low income brown children, I am afraid the way they act will rub off of my kid and there's no way he or she will grow up to become a mexican gangbanger or something like that.

My kid is going to appreciate museums, literature, theater and most importantly learning. I hope his or her friends will have similar interests. Having kids with an asian would be acceptable, but I'm afraid that if we have a male child he'll get laughed at for being short and the whole "asians have small penises" stereotype might cause him a lot of pain. I've heard that asian boys have a tough time when it comes to dating.

Having a kid with a native American might be a ballza idea. Not only would it help propagate rare genes, but natives are given some special treatment in the USA and Canada.

Natives tend to be poor and rather trashy but they are so rare that it would be difficult for the child to get in a clique at school with other Natives. Anyways, chances are he would come out pale enough to pass for a whitey. He would still get the various benefits associated with being a native American, though.

Based on studies regarding a child's exposure to sounds in the womb, I will start putting headphones on my wife's stomach during the second trimester and playing the fetus a combination of Formula 1 engine sounds and jazz bass solos (probably Jaco Pastorious). For the first 6 months adter they're born (when babies experience the highest rate of neurogenesis and imprinting), small speakers will be placed in their crib in order to play jazz albums at a low volume while they sleep, along with foreign language tapes. I'll speak to the baby in a variety of languages and make sure that motorsport is a key element of our bonding time during the first year of their life, as well as playing instruments around them to encourage an early understanding of music theory.
It has been found that a strong sense of balance is beneficial to driving skills, thus I will work woth my child to foster a strong sense of balance, with a goal that they can walk independantly around the 8 month mark. As the child ages, I will teach them basic logical concepts with games (they will learn to play Go rather than chess) and encourage them to explore and participate in all types of art, academia, and athleticism, primarily by integrating nonfiction books into bedtime story readings. As a trend though, I will become less directional in what I expose them to, and try my best to help them satisfy their curiosity.
Of course, moral concepts are important to instill in a child. Around the age of 3, I will begin raising them as a Buddhist (the knowledge of Buddha having been implanted during bedtime stories) with an emphasis upon the philosophical aspects rather than the theological. It is important to not only answer your child's questions, but to ask questions of them in order to study their understanding of the world and teach them to engage in meaningful dialogue.
By the time the child starts preschool, the majority of my work is done. I am simply there to guarantee their security, answer their questions, and assist them in their schoolwork/hobbies, but none of that matters: They will subconsciously feel drawn to become a virtuoso bass player or Formula 1 driver, which of course I will support, but my similar support of their other endeavors will give them the illusion of free will despite their future having been decided before they were even born. Like most Asian children, they will achieve greatness, but will not resent me for it as I am a constant source of positive reinforcement in their lives, not (to their knowledge) forcing them to pick any one path. I will die with the satisfaction of having a successful child that loves me, but is none the wiser to my master plan, provided that they never discover this post.

Regardless of gender, they will not be circumcised.

Yes, and it really depends on where the natives are from. My experience comes from natives around fort sill but in general military base people suck. I did a little look up of of the dead guy's dead son and it turns out his arrest record was for "sexual assault child". My advice is that if you are going to breed with injuns, pick a tribe that has been nearly annihilated and forced to integrate.
