I would say there is a subset of millennials that know just enough about the internet to use social media and screw themselves over, but they're usually not the rule. Most pyramid schemes advertise through mail/in person more than the internet in my experience, anyway.

It is pretty depressing when one of your down-on-their-luck friends asks you if you want to see a demo of their knives or something. In most cases it's less that they think they're the smartest motherhooligans out there, and more that they HAVE to lie to themselves because they know it's their only chance. Having one of your friends offer to have sex for money is at least an honest exchange.

Someone I know needed a job, so they got into the "knife-selling" crap. He put my knives and their knives on the table and said "Ok, now try to cut this with your current knife", so I did. The insincerity aside, I'm actually pretty happy for these Dance Moms girls and I think they'll be OK. That show is the absolute worst kind of reality TV, but these days all the girls on it seem to be more well known for other performances and public appearances than for the show (that Sia video, etc). And unlike a lot of reality TV celebrities, these girls are famous for having a legit, elite-level skill. They are ballza dancers and obviously spend a lot of time rehearsing. Hopefully they'll grow up to be disciplined, hard-working people, whether they continue performing or doing showbiz or not. And if/when their fame ebbs away, they can use their clout and skill to open a dance studio or something, which is more than any star of Toddlers and Tiaras can say.

All 13 year olds go through phases of experimenting with identities and are prone to idolizing people. This girl is obviously pretty into Iggy Azalea. And she happens to have parents with enough $$$ (and tbh she probably has a shitload of money in a trust or something from her reality show) to make those experimental tweenage mini-identities on public display. Maybe that will cause some crisis of identity as she goes through adolescence or something, I don't know; the cliche is that child stars have a lot of problems later in life. But it's better to be famous for having an impressive skill than be famous just for looks or nothing hellza at all. Hopefully the structure and discipline of being a professional dancer at a young age will countrbalance the weight of having a million 12 year old instagram followers who idolize you and all the pedophiles that jack off to you.

I would say it resembles in some ways the black and various other minority experiences.
