The main complaint I've heard is about the amount of fan-service, but apparently the novels are exactly the same so it isn't SHAFT's fault.

It's one of my favourites of the season, I really like how all the characters bounce off each other and interact, and the animation is really well done too.

I don't understand why the fact that every frame of this show is boner worthy bothers me.

It's true, architecture aside, Shaft are being painfully faithful to the novels where most would be taking liberties. It gives it the right pace for banter but as a result some bits do feel a little out of place.
