British humor.

Started watching Misfits and find it quite hilarious. It is about a group of young brits stuck doing community service together when they get zapped in some freaky storm and develop special powers. I wouldn't exactly call them "super" powers per se.

Am also tryin to get into The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margret also (David Cross, Will Arnett) but it's not sticking.

what about y'all?

That's way too long for you to not give a brief description of those shows.

I say this because I really badly want something new to watch and this list looks awesome but god man, I can't just be a Random Picky-Choosy Randolph Patty-Choopla.

ok then. You could just google them, but here's my take:

>Nathan Barley
Clever, satirical comedy essentially about hipsters (before hipsters were a thing). Only 6 eps so you can marathon it in 3 hours. I highly recommend this

>>Green Wing
Ensemble comedy set in a hospital. Very rude. You may find the style annoying (too much music and video effects, but they were the style at the time)

>Peep show
POV shots and internal monologues from 2 losers. Gets funnier as you grow to know the characters. Takes a while to get into imo

>IT crowd
Silly sitcom about 2 guys in an IT department

>Phoenix Nights
Very "northern" humour. Dunno if it translates for non-brits. Personally I find it hilarious

>Max and Paddy's road To Nowhere
Spin off from Phoenix Nights. Equally funny.

>Brass Eyes
Mock news/magazine show. What you might call "edgy" comedy. Takes a satirical look at topical issues and makes some celebrities look foolish

>15 Storeys High
Underrated, kind of low key comedy

>Bo Selecta
Completely surreal sketch show/impression show. Again, very british - not sure if it crosses over

>Da Ali G Show
Sacha Baron Cohen's original vehicle. "edgy" in the same vein as Brass Eye

>Garth Merenghi's Dark Place
Spoof 80's horror series. Highly recommend.

>Ideal
Low key, kind of surreal show about a weed dealer

>Alan Partridge
There are a couple of different shows based around this character. They're all pretty good, may as well go chronologically and start with Knowing Me, Knowing You

>Nighty Night
(just thought of this one) Dark comedy about a woman and her dying husband

Cont. in next post...

Cont.

>Inbetweeners
Similar sort of target audience as misfits/same sort of humour. About a group of social misfits in school

>Monkey Dust
Very dark animated comedy. Only funny if your a twisted person.

>just realised nighty night was on the list :p

>Red Dwarf
Sci fi sitcom. Considered a classic but idk, personally I don't find it that funny. I included it on the list because a lot of people seem to like it. I find it kind of cheesy - like its trying to be written like blackadder, but just doesnt come off

>The Royle Family
Great, low key comedy about the lives of a working class family and their tv/livingroom

>Mitchel and Webb
Sketch show. Quite long and clever sketches as opposed to the more fashionable short sketches we tend to have since the 90s. Hit and miss though, like all sketch shows

>Spaced
Clever, lots of pop culture references. By the same guys who did Shaun of the dead

>Smack the Pony
Female sketch show (sounds awful doesn't it?) It's actually fairly decent but has its flaws e.g. over use of colour filters and music. This is a problem with a lot of these Channel 4 90's/00s comedies - their "experimental" form is dated as fuck

>The Fast Show
Basically re-invented the sketch show format in britain to short sketches and catchphrases (which obviously now is overused and shite) but imo this still stands up and makes me laugh anyway

>The Harry Enfield Show
Another 90s sketch show. Like all sketch shows it's hit and miss. Has dated quite badly in terms of topicality

>Goodness Gracious Me
Another sketch-show-with-a-twist! Indian cast. Genuinely funny though and surprisingly not that dated.

>The Thick Of It
Political satire. Had great potential and is still v funny, but due to the lead actor being arrested for paedophilia the second season onwards kind of loses momentum

>Help
(just thought of this) Sketch show revolving around a psychiatrist and his patients

>League of Gentlemen
(just thought of this as well) Sketch show set in a peculiar village

>2 Pints of lager and a Packet of Crisps
This is not a generally well-received comedy in Britain, but it is a guilty pleasure of mine. Personally i find it really funny, and there's plenty of episodes, which Americans seem to like (assuming you're american). Stop watching after Ralph Little leaves the cast though. Seriously.

I'm sure there's loads more I can't think of right now. I've limited it to mainly 90's 00's things, but there's also a lot of older shows i like. What I've listed should be enough to keep you going for a while though :) Enjoy

>the mighty boosh
>look around you
>drop the dead donkey
>jam
>catterick

>father ted

Priest attempts to scam some of his flock though a trip to Lourdes and instead goes to Vegas, gets caught, and instead of being kicked out of the church, gets sent to an island off the northern tip of Ireland. In continuing his service to the church he must deal with two fellow priests, one thick as a brick, and the other a late-stage alcoholic with a vocabulary generally limited to random shouts of profanity, and a pathological fear of nuns.

The fact that none of you have mentioned Blackadder upsets me.
You >>413 are ok

Red Dwarf rules though

Britain has a lot of comedy panel shows- sort of like game shows, but with no prizes, and with celebrities (usually British ones), comedians and even politicians as the contestants.

Have I got News for You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and Mock the Week spring to mind. Probably worth checking out Shooting Stars if you're into absurdism, as all Britons are.

Quite Interesting (with the glorious Stephen Fry) and Would I Lie To You? are also very amusing.

What baffles me is how no one has even mentioned Fawlty Towers. It is easily one of the funniest shows ever made. The first episode is a bit iffy, but from then on, there is simply nothing that can dethrone the comedic genius that is Basil Fawlty.

Also on the note of Stephen Fry, A Bit of Fry and Laurie is fantastic. If you've never seen it (or even heard of it) but like House, you'll soon realize just why Hugh Laurie had such impeccable comedic timing. They also made Blackadder funny (sorry Rowan).
