Oh well, third time I'm doing this~

Tried my hand at charcoal again, it's pretty fun but so incredibly flimsy and messy! Quick doodle while drinking a cup of coffee.

I remember and enjoy your art and I am happy that you have restarted your thread for the third(?) time now. Please continue to post new material!

If you haven't already, you should take a portfolio to some local indie coffeeshops and so on and see if you can get a pricetag slapped on some of these and have them hanging publicly. Also, I don't know about where you live, but in my city there's a kind of punk/alternative art gallery/art store/record store where your stuff would fit in perfectly. If you haven't already, see if you can't find an independent gallery that caters to a goth/punk rock subculture.

Haha, once before the restart and once before everything died recently, I think.

Thank you very much! Yeah, I guess I should actively try to get my paintings hung in a gallery or similar, would be very nice, I just feel like A) I'm not practicing enough and B) I'm not good enough. I'm trying to force myself to sketch stuff but it's hard, I'm on 60 mg of cymbalta a day for a depression which kinds of cripples me. Oh well, perhaps I'll paint something tomorrow!

>I just feel like A) I'm not practicing enough and B) I'm not good enough.
You can only get so good (and summon so much motivation to practice) on your own. The best way to get better is to get your stuff out there, get feedback, network with other artists, and so on.

I find the best motivation to practice making art is when I am going to be putting it out into the world. it's hard to find motivation when you're just sketching in your sketchbook with no real purpose. But when you start getting your shit out, sharing it with others, you have an immediate and tangible reason to make things and to improve.

I hereby demand that within the next 14 days, you report back to this thread about efforts you have made to find coffeeshops, art galleries, artist co-operatives, craft fairs, farmers' markets and so on in your area and the steps you have taken to get your art shown locally. This is my decree. Your art is too good not to be shared.

If I was in a punk and/or horrorcore and/or metal and/or industrial band, I would want you to do poster art for my shows. Hell, if I was any kind of musician, I'd commission you for poster or album art.

Sweet necklace. Also, you have one hell of a pair of DSLs.

I like your art. It's seems pretty obviously the product of someone with some depression issues and maybe a history of self harm (?) but it's very tender and often sensual. I like the mix of dark goth kind of stuff, and even a bit of grotesque freaky shit, mixed with femininity and sexuality.

Portrait, sort of. I'm using my old shitty camera to take stock photos for reference when painting, this ain't my favorite media.

>>348

Ah, yes - I've suffered from depression pretty much all my life, pretty self destructive (especially in a sexual way, I'm a whore baby.) and there's few things I cherish as much as beauty and sensualism. When I paint I try to capture both the filthy and the mellow, at least according to my own ability.

I just got a grant for this exhibition Im going to have in a month or something: 10 000 SEK (about 1k EUR/USD, I think), so during the next few weeks I'm going to paint a lot. I'll keep you all updated!

It is, isn't it? I'm extremely glad, as soon as I get the money I'm going to buy some oil, linen canvases (yay, fuck cotton!) and quality brushes and get my shit together again. Most of these paintings I made when I was sixteen or something, hopefully my skills have improved some even though I've been slacking off.

Still wouldn't call my photographs "art", but here's a selfportrait. Once again, going to use this as reference for a painting in this exhibition. I think I'm going to have epicenity/androgyny as a main theme, sort of. That and sensualism. Cold, rare hues, perhaps some almost metalic tones - Think Gustav Klimt.

Thanks for posting the link to your blog. I remember you mentioning it once or twice and I meant to ask you for the URL but kept forgetting.

When you paint, do you work on multiple pieces in parallel or do you focus on one piece, work it through to completion - or until you hit some kind of creative wall with it and need to step away for a while - and then move on to the next idea?

I wish I had a more planned out painting routine, but sadly, I don't. Most paintings I start I never finish, because I really dislike trying to, err, understand old paintings. See, I get a feeling when I paint, and try to put it on a canvas. When I don't finish my painting pretty fast, I have to try to recreate the exact same feeling I had when I first begun, and thats really hard (impossible, perhaps?). Some paintings benefit from this change of direction, while others don't.

So yeah, I do one painting, spend between one to three days on it, ideally.
