Does /tvav/ like Drive?

I thought it was the best film of 2011, if not the best film in quite a long time.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, if only for the last half when shit gets totally Tarantino-esque. Wasn't very fond of the ham-fisted romance/family plot that made up most of the first half though. Good performances all around, but it just wasn't my thing.

I agree with these two lines.

I did a little write up about it here >>41

I found it to pretty much be the greatest told bad story I've ever seen. (not 'bad' so much as 'what would usually be uninteresting' I guess)

Enjoyed it a lot. Far more interesting than the far more common inverse of horribly told good story at least.

Just beautiful direction to it.

I thought it was okay. Just okay, it really failed to live up to it's hype.

The soundtrack was snazzy and cool. The girl was real to life hot, I found her very refreshing and loved her little smiles. Finney and Perlman seemed to be having fun chewing the scenery. I agree with >>41 about the cinematography and the technical aspects being very well done. I liked the pacing up until the second half. It went all dark and violent in the second half to try and impress and it failed, failed badly. I don't like that Jake Glyenhall guy very much, I don't think he's much of an actor. I didn't like him in Crazy Stupid Love either.

On a side note, I watched Taxi Driver on IFC the other night and was reminded why Drive a D+ movie, relative to DeNiro and Taxi Driver
