It is exactly the same. You make hash by extracting as much of the cannibanoids as you can from weed, then mushing it into a lump. Hash has a few advantages - for one thing, it cherries quite easily and will stay lit for a long time. It's also more compact than weed.
On the other hand, it can taste like shit, and unless you made it yourself it's gonna have a bunch of nasty shit in it. I would stick to weed, if you want hash it's easy to make.
