Oh don't get me started. I tried to install some software I might be using for work. To install it, I needed to install the Microsoft Windows SDK. So, I download the installer and run it. It gives me an error message telling me to look at a folder it didn't create. Google tells me to edit some registry files, which I do. No dice. Eventually I find a Stack Overflow post telling me to uninstall VC++, you know, the part of the SDK I was supposed to need. But no, the shit I need to install doesn't work without the full SDK.

So I download the installer for VC++, and uninstall it, then I try to install the SDK. Still the same fucking error. I find out that there's VC++ Express, which contains what you need to use VC++, and the vc_redist_x64.exe that will let me actually uninstall VC++. So, I download that and try again. I get the SAME FUCKING ERROR MESSAGE. I look back at the Express installer, and find out that every time I try to install the SDK, it's getting reinstalled. So, I uninstall it again, uninstall the x64 thing again, and try to install the SDK. Guess what happens now? THE SAME FUCKING ERROR TELLING ME TO LOOK AT A FILE THAT IT DIDN'T MAKE. Finally I find out that there's a vc_redist_x86 that is the other half of the VC++ back-end that goes along with vc_redist_x64, VC++ Express, and the Microsoft Windows SDK.

So, in total, I had to download five different installers, uninstall-then-reinstall-differently three things from my computer, just to be able to install the ONE FUCKING PROGRAM THAT I WANTED TO USE. That shit took up half my day because Microsoft is too fucking lazy to make an installer that can fucking LOOK at what's already fucking installed and too greedy to let other people bundle the software that they let you download for free.

Fucking Microsoft indeed.
